Guess What Today Is! (+ a Giveaway!)

It's National Scrapbooking Day! I am hosting the All Day Challenge and Hourly Challenges today over at Scrapbook.com

I love to scrapbook and it truly makes me happy. I love being able to have a creative outlet. And yet, I hardly ever, if at all, mention it to people in my everyday life. I have a secret internet life! Who knew?

The theme for this year's All Day Challenge is "Why do you scrapbook." I always think of my dear, sweet Nan. I just want to keep my memories alive.

Just yesterday I found a stack of letters that Nan has written to me when I was a child. One of the letters, dated August, 14th, 1989, read, "Everytime I look at the front porch I can see you sitting in that rocking chair reading. So many nice things for me to remember. I love you so much, you're my special bitty and will always be." Where do the memories go, when they are lost?

If you would like, you can read the rest of my article over at Estee's Take.

And since it is a day to celebrate everything about scrapbooking, I would love to give away some of my very favorite embellishments: buttons! Shocked, I know you are. I have 4 button packs from my very favorite Etsy Shop, LittleRedCottage that I would love to share with you. Just leave me a comment letting me know what you are up to today! You have until 11:59PM on Monday, May 3rd to leave me a comment. I will randomly choose 4 people to receive a package of buttons.

Have an amazing weekend!

I'm now up & ready to face my scrap desk. I have lots to catch up on & since there is rain in the forecast for the entire weekend it is the perfect place to be!! Of course I started the laundry & made sure everyone was fed & clean....gotta take care of the other people that live here! Love your blog. Oh...I love buttons too!! hehe

I will be following along on scrapbook.com with you as much as I can until "pesky life" gets in the way and I have to go to Walmart to buy diapers. Hey, now would be a good day to potty train my 6 month old, don't ya think?

Just found you on scrapbook.com. Fun! Today I am keeping my foot up after surgery, and what better way to do that than to scrap. Hoping to get a few layouts done and maybe a card or two. Have a fabulous day! (OOH... I love buttons too!)

What a fun page full of special memories! Thanks for a chance at the buttons. I've been following you on RSS--now I'm following you publicly, too!

Due to our time difference (10 hours) I had to wait until late evening before all fun at the NSD started. Now I'm just enjoying all the truly inspirational lay outs people post for the all day challenge.
National Scrapbook Day also took me to your blog and I've been having a great time browsing around. I'm sure this will not be my last visit here!

Today was about me (not the mommy or the wife - but the woman) I ran a 5k to start and then headed to the beach. Now checking in on all the scrappy stuff! Nothing wrong with a button obsession in my opinion! Thanks for the chance to win.

Oh my goodness! Love all those buttons! I have been a little under the weather today, so haven't been able to join in all the NSD festivities. I did make a couple online orders so I contributed something to NSD! :)

Well Bug and I went shopping yesterday for all the scrapbook sales. Yes I spend way too much money if the hubby knew, but I don't think I spent near enough. ;)

We were back in time for me to enjoy last night and watching and reading all the exciting posts. I will be trying the challenges next year.

EsteeLynn - when I read someone was worried about you and the tornadoes yesterday I was about to go looking for you, then I saw you online.

I played until 3am this morning and watching the weather. Bug and I got hung up in the 'boro. Having to spend an hour in Belks would have been fine - if we could have shopped. They kept us safe though.

I looked tonight and saw that I had won of the Door Prizes and I am so excited!

I most enjoyed your blog on "Why I Scrap" if you are not published yet you should be.

I haven't tried the buttons yet, although I will be in the near future, maybe I should check my sewing box too.

I hear the rumbling of thunder and I know it is heading your way too right now - stay safe tonight.

I LOVE that layout! That birdie is so cute!! I was able to participate a little in NSD-- finishing one layout and completing a new one. I haven't been scrapping lately due to time, but it sure did make me realize how much I miss it and how I am going to try and find more time to do what I love!!!

Yummy buttons too!

Estee, I know I am too late or the buttons, but wanted to tell you how beautiful your layout is. It tugged at my heartstrings...I too have a Mamaw that can't remember me. I used to go to church with her every Sunday, and I would go to her baby sitting job with her...I loved spending time with her, and she can not even remember me. It hurts...but I know why. Unfortunately...the only thing we can do is like you said...remember for both of us. Thank you for that message. I think it is exactly what I needed today. =)

I love buttons too! I love to use them on layouts and cards.
Today my family always goes to my Mothers and we cook out. So I'll be leaving in about one hour to go for some family time and some good food. Thanks for the chance to win.
