Happy Valentine's Day!!! Are you having a fun day?
When I was growing up, my mom always made pink heart shaped pancakes for breakfast on Valentine's Day. I most certainly can't break tradition, now could I? I also used this mold to make heart shaped eggs. :)
I think I may have gotten a little carried away...
It was nice to have a big family breakfast. In the little bowls, you can see Hershey's Kissables and lots of conversation hearts. Not only do I allow my kids to have cupcakes for breakfast, sometimes we have candy! -Gasp!-
We used the Making Memories Love Notes line of patterned papers to make this super cute Valentine's gift for Breuklyn's Kindergarten teacher. Breuklyn cut out the hearts and then glued them together to make the flowers. I used a hole punch to make a hole in the center of the "flower" so that I could insert the stick for the Tootsie pop. Breuklyn added some ric rac to look like leaves, and it also held the Tootsie pop in place. We used the Love Notes paper to make a little, "Thanks a bunch!" card and were done. Her teacher loved it and Breuklyn was proud that she made the project herself.
We made cookies to go along with her Valentine's Day cards. I used the Wilton Heart Pan to make the heart shaped cookies. Once they had completely cooled, I dipped them in white chocolate and decorated them with various sprinkles and red frosting. I let them sit overnight before I packaged them in sandwich bags.
I think that Breuklyn's Valentines were really sweet. She was proud that she was able to write out the names of everyone in her class all by herself and was happy that she had made something special for her friends.
Valentine's Day was a huge success at my house. How was your day? Are you ready to count down to Easter???

sounds like your day was a fun success! we had pink heart pancakes as well, plus sausage and fruit, served up on really cute owl/bird plates from Target. Dinner was "Bella Notte" (from Lady & the Tramp): spaphetti, meatballs, and garlic bread, with chocolate dipped cookies for dessert. Everyone is now in bed, well loved for another day. :)
Thanks for all the fun your share here!
Aw, your breakfast table setting looks AWESOME!! And that teacher gift is just too cute!! We had an awesome day :) After giving Mikey his gift this a.m., Mikey stayed with my mom and Miguel and I headed out for a day of "alone-ness"...together...lol It was awesome just spending the whole day together talking and just hanging out! Best Vday yet :) Hope yours was great too!
Awww, what a special memory you made for your children. You get my vote for Creative Mother of the year. It all looked so wonderful.

Thank you for my lovely blog comment.
Aww, Estee, it all looks so wonderful! I love Breuklyn's valentines. She did a great job writing the names! You have such wonderful traditions. I am glad you had a very Happy Valentine's Day! :)
We had a nice day too. Went out to dinner in the evening and the rented a movie:) Gave the kids thier gifts in the am. We also made some Vday cupcakes.
All your school treats look great!!! We aren't allowed to send any kind of homemade goodies to school:( Everything has to be storebought. Boo!!!
Hope you had a super nice Vday:)
your creativity amazes me!!! it runs every where...cooking, decorating, scrapping, altering!!! you Rock!!!
Adorable as always. The cookies came out great.
You just gave me our valentine gift ideas for next year, or at least when the boys can write. Right now at 3, they're just learning to spell their own names, much less the rest of their classmates; although they do surprise me sometimes with the things they do know & names they recognize.
This year it was all up to me: heart shaped sugar cookies with confectioners icing in pink & red with different sprinkles for boys and girls. (Just a little compulsive.) My boys seem only to be interested in eating the cookies, decorated or not, and not in making them for everyone else in their Pre-K 3 and Kindermusik classes. Maybe the day will come when they'll enjoy the giving of gifts as much as I do. I can only hope!
Thanks for your great stories - I laugh until it hurts reading your column at Scrapbook.com and just found this blog today. Keep it up!
You are amazing Estee! Wow!!! Beautiful, everything, how do you have the time and energy?
