Those Who Save Us

Reading. I have been hiding out the past few days and I was finally able to read some of the books that I have been collecting. I loved Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum. I could not put it down. It definitely is not a lighthearted story, since it is about the Holocaust, but Blum tells a very important story. I love historical fiction. What are you reading?

Right now I'm reading A New Earth, the current book for Oprah's book club, but I'm still not sure how I feel about it and I'm well into like page 200. Some of it makes some good points...just not sure.

Melissa - I am really getting into historical fiction, do you have any recommendations on a book I should read?

Lal - I really liked A New Earth. With Oprah it is hit or miss. I am reading Pillars of Earth, which is her newest book and I really like it.

Elizabeth - I love Jenette's blog. BB introduced me to it about a year ago. I love the humor and the honesty of it! I *LOVED* Middlesex. I didn't think that I would and then I read the whole thing in about 24 hours. It was amazing. I sent the book to Carolyn who loved it too. I think you would like Those Who Save Us. It is about the Holocaust, but told from the point of view of a German woman. Very interesting. We need to catch up! :)

Leah - Did you like the Bell Jar? That is one of those books that I know I need to read and never do. :)

I just finished reading Wicked. I was so mad at that book. Messed up my whole concept of the Wizard of Oz. I kept reading it though. Going to go check out the Jenna Blum book to see if I need to add it to my list. I recently read Middlesex, and I couldn't put it down either. It was so interesting. Wow!
