Preparing for Breuklyn's Big Day!

Breuklyn's birthday is on Sunday, so I spent all morning finishing up the ice cream cone cupcakes for her class today. I just couldn't help myself and made these sugar cookies that I stuck down in the cupcake so that it looked like a little plant. Those crushed Oreo cookies really do look like dirt, don't they? Needless to say, the Kindergartners were so excited to eat "dirt."

After baking all night, spending a few hours with the Kindergarten class, spending a few more hours out in the sun reading a magazine (woohoo!) and then running Breuklyn to soccer practice, I am ready for some much needed sleep. Especially since we have lots of errands to run tomorrow along with a soccer game and a strawberry cheesecake that a certain almost 6 year old wants me to bake for her birthday. Whew!

What are you doing this weekend?

Those are SO adorable! What a great idea! I've made something similar for one of Kyle's class parties (halloween party; MANY moons ago)... no flower but cake mix baked in the cone, an oval vanilla sandwich cookie (1/2 dipped in white chocolate) as the headstone), a spider ring planted in the side of the cone and gummi worms sticking out of the oreo dirt. The kids loved them... even the girls! What is it about kids & the idea of eating dirt? LOL!

OH! Those are TOOO cute! I did something like that for Lij when he was in kinder for his bday. I made chocolate cupcakes and frosted them with chocolate frosting and then crumbled Oreos on top and stuck some gummy worms in there. I got that idea from the Family Fun magazine I think. They were called "dirt cups". His classmates LOVED them! Happy Belated Birthday to Breuklyn :)
