29 Things For My 29th Year

This week I wrote my column over at Scrapbook.com about my absolute favorite project: The 29 Things for My 29th Year Mini-Album. You can hop over there to read about all of my goals and the thought process that went into making it. I'll just hit the highlights here.

I had SO much fun with this project. It was even more amazing because Carolyn made one too! I can't believe that I didn't take a picture of hers! Ugh! Her 24th birthday is on April 8th, so she is all set and ready to have the best year ever. I know, I know, it sounds lame, but I swear to you that my 29th year is going to be the best ever. I can just feel it.

To make this album I pulled apart 4 Maya Road albums that I already had, plus added in pages from Scenic Route, made envelopes out of patterned paper and used random bits and pieces that I have collected. I love how mismatched it is. Love it.

My favorite goal for the year is to read 50 of the top 100 books of all time. I have already read a lot of them, but I am going to read them again. I will read all 50 by March 8th of next year. I am almost done with To The Lighthouse, by Virginia Woolf. I haven't read it since college and I am loving it!
You can't really tell, but the cherry paper is actually an envelope that I made for my "Grow a Garden" goal. I just pulled an envelope apart and used it as a template for the patterned paper. Easy and pretty. I plan on using the envelope for seed packets and pictures.

Or you can totally cheat and just use a Manila envelope! Hee Hee!

I am also excited about watching the American Film Industry's Top 50 Movies of all time. I refuse to watch anymore lame movies that Brad picks out at Blockbuster. Refuse. Plus, I have always wanted to see Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

Breuklyn is the most excited about this goal. We are going to recycle. It isn't mandatory here and my neighbors just stick out boxes of stuff for the recycling truck that isn't even sorted, but we are going to recycle and do it properly.

If you are a member at Scrapbook.com (which you should be!) I am offering a 29 Things (which, 29 x 5 = 145, but I thought it was catchier this way) Prize Pack for one lucky commenter. You should check it out.

Have a great Monday everyone!!!! :)

Wow, Love this idea! I'm also starting a garden...a goal that i made for the new year. In fact I made several little goals for the new year but amazingly didn't make a list. Nope, they're just floating around in my head! LOL! I'll have to try one of these books. What a terrific thing to look back on some day!

Estee, you have the most amazing ideas. I LOVE your album (and yes, I did comment on your blog - glad it's back!!!) :) I know you will be able to attain all of your goals you set by next March. And, if you would like help with that road trip one, let me know. That is on my list of things to do this summer. :)

But no! sb.com is just not sending me your sweet musings. I'll totally have to check out the last month's worth at work tomorrow :o)
